Ian Cook

Ian is a Partner in the National Property group and also heads the Housebuilders Plot Sales team. 

Ian qualified in 1980 [with Robbins Olivey & Lake and was previously a partner at Bells].  He joined Laytons in 1995 to concentrate on residential development.

Ian first dealt with industrial and warehouse development in the early 1980s before handling a large portfolio of petrol stations in the late 1980s and early 1990s as part of a broad commercial property practice.  Throughout this period he also dealt with residential development for developers having dealt with his first residential estate in 1982.

His work and expertise encompasses all aspects of commercial and residential property work including:

• drafting of residential estate development documentation;
• drafting and implementation of sales incentive schemes;
• road, drainage and other infrastructure agreements;
• acquisitions of residential development sites including options and planning agreements;
• freehold reversion sales, including all Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 compliance issues;
• other acquisitions and disposals;
• commercial landlord and tenant work;
• secured commercial property lending
