The Training Experience

One of the advantages of training with Laytons is that you will be part of a smaller team and you will be given real and challenging work at an early stage. Your enthusiasm, intellect, opinion and energy will be recognised and valued.

During the two-year training period, you will spend time in each of our main practice areas- normally a 'seat' lasts for six months– so gaining a thorough understanding of our business and identifying your particular strengths. At the end of each period you’ll have a formal review of your progress, although our style of working presumes that any issues would be discussed and dealt with as they arise.

In addition to the practical experience you gain in your individual seats, we provide a continuing process of workshops and training sessions on developments in the law to enable you to extend your knowledge, so together with access to the firm’s document management system and research systems on your desktop, you will have the best available tools to become a successful solicitor.
