The cost of long-term sickness absence to employers can be considerable — both in terms of hard cost, management time and legal risk. There is often a need to balance commercial and operational pressures — ensuring the roll is back-filled and operational efficacy is maintained, whilst simultaneously ensuring the individual’s employment is managed compassionately and in accordance with the myriad of potential legal obligations.
We therefore thought it would be useful to run a breakfast briefing on how best to manage these competing forces to ensure long-term absence is managed compassionately, commercially, and lawfully.
The briefing will cover:
- practical tips management on managing sickness absence
- the lowdown on medical reports
- a brief refresher of Equality Act 2010 considerations
The session is aimed primarily at HR professionals or, indeed, anyone with HR or line management responsibilities within your organisation.
It will also provide a great opportunity to network with fellow professionals and meet Laytons’ newly expanded Employment team.
