Luke joined as a trainee in September 2013 and qualified as a solicitor into the Disputes team in October 2015. Luke studied Law at the University of Exeter and previously worked in-house in the legal department of Porsche Cars Great Britain. Luke is a member of the Property Litigation Association.

Luke is a commercial litigator whose work encompasses a wide variety of contentious real estate matters, with a particular focus on:

  • residential landlord and tenant disputes – including claims relating to housing disrepair, possession, deposit disputes, lease extensions and leasehold enfranchisement

  • commercial landlord and tenant disputes – including forfeiture, commercial rent recovery and actions brought under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954

  • property rights – including those relating to easements, restrictive covenants and rights of ownership

  • contentious construction work

  • professional negligence arising out of property transactions

Recent work:

  • acting for a major social housing association in respect of housing disrepair and possession claims across their extensive property portfolio

  • advising and acting for landlords and tenants in disputes concerning tenancy deposits

  • acting for tenants in proceedings before the First-Tier Tribunal (Property Chambers) relating to contested lease extensions

  • acting for leading house-builder in connection with leasehold enfranchisement and disposals of freehold portfolios pursuant to the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987

  • acting for a commercial landlord in forfeiture proceedings against tenant on the basis of unauthorised assignment

  • advising landlords on commercial rent review and lease renewal procedures under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954
