Join us for a discussion on issues relating to planning, restrictive covenants and options.
On 7 February the Government published their long awaited White Paper: “Fixing our Broken Housing Market”. In the foreword to the White Paper, the Prime Minister states that her Government’s aim is to “build many more houses, of the type people want to live in, in the places they want to live”.
In order to achieve that aim, she identifies 3 barriers to overcome:
- the need for more land for homes where people want to live
- the need for homes to be built quickly once planning permission is granted
- the need to diversify the housing market
The seminar will consider some of the legal issues which often frustrate entirely or delay residential development – the planning process, restrictive covenants and the exercise of option agreements – and form part of the first two barriers identified. Whether or not the Government is able to adequately address these issues is likely to impact on whether the Prime Minister’s aims will be met.
The Seminar forms part of our 2017 Property Spotlight.
Here will find articles on some of the topics to be discussed at the Seminar, as well as on recent changes to the law affecting residential landlords and tenants and other hot topics in property in the year ahead.
