John has over 30 years' experience offering advice in all forms of corporate insolvency and restructuring to directors, shareholders and creditors. He advises financial institutions and insolvency practitioners on all legal matters arising from corporate insolvencies with a particular emphasis on contentious aspects. 

He has acted on regulatory investigations, complex cross border asset-tracing and recovery insolvencies and enforcement matters with a civil fraud element. Where appropriate, he creates imaginative, bespoke fee solutions to facilitate the bringing of unfunded but meritorious insolvency cases and debt recovery work.

His particular specialisms are:

• Advice to financial institutions on the most appropriate enforcement steps to take under their security. 

• Advice to board of directors of distressed companies on the various insolvency processes that are available and recommending the most appropriate process to undertake.

• Enforcement of security as well as injunctive and ancillary relief applications to the High Court.  

• Debtor/creditor contentious situations. 

• All forms of recovery and insolvency matters including both in-court and out-of-court insolvency processes and arrangements. 

• Director and officer liability insurance claims. 

• Advice on Insolvency Practitioner bond cover as required under the Insolvency Act 1986. 

• Advising upon CASS Rules and their applicability in insolvency events.
