Liza is a corporate lawyer and head of the Italian Team and head of the Spanish desk of ETL. She is fluent in Italian and Spanish and also speaks French. She acts for many Italian companies and individuals and was named as a notable practitioner in the practice areas of Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions: Foreign Experts UK, and Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions: Experts Based Abroad (Spain and Italy).
She has a degree in European Law and Languages and as part of her degree spent an Erasmus year in Spain at both University in Madrid (Universidad Compultense de Madrid) and working in a Spanish boutique law firm in Barcelona. In 2001 she was instrumental in setting up the British Spanish Law Association and continues to support the Association to the present day.
Liza succeeded in completing an inverse cross border merger under the Companies (Cross-Border Mergers) Regulations 2007, the first one to be done in this way. In fact Liza attempted a cross border merger in the inverse by merging a parent company into a subsidiary, which has been permitted under Italian law but has so far not been permitted under English law. The final procedure involved a Hearing in the High Court, Queens Bench Division before Registrar Jones in the Companies Court, the case is known as Formenta Limited and has been quoted in many articles in the legal press and beyond.
Liza advises in all areas of corporate law from Mergers and Acquisitions in a cross-border capacity to Commercial Matters for national and international clients. Liza also acts and advises family offices and HNWI, and is the point of reference for her international clients on all areas of their private and business needs.
