He has extensive experience with commercial agreements, technology transfer and development, corporate sales, purchases and investments, and joint ventures. His broad business experience as well as his technical expertise enables him to provide valuable strategic and general business guidance and support as a trusted adviser to clients, whether they be major corporations, SMEs or early stage, and their senior management. He is known for his rigorous analysis of risk and opportunity.
Some examples of his work include:
negotiation in Moscow of a business acquisition by our client, a major corporation, with related supply and other agreements; the Russian lawyers said to the client “This acquisition would not have happened without Richard’s persistence, negotiating skills, insight and lateral thinking"
negotiation of the grant to our client of a major life sciences licence, with astute identification and negotiation of the extent of the licence grant which brought benefits later when an unexpected additional field of exploitation of the technology was discovered
acting in a series of corporate acquisitions and major commercial agreements for a client, which itself was later sold to a US buyer; in expressing thanks, the retiring chairman sent a card “Richard – always our most trusted adviser” and the FD e-mailed “Apart from your technical knowledge, it was always your commercial brain that I most valued"
